I was about to change my benchmark photo to spring when I realized that I wasn't sure if it was spring yet. Coming from Maine, I know that the "official" first day of spring as it is on the calendar means nothing. Growing up, we were looking for the first robin or the yellow-green shoots of crocuses pushing up through the last of the snow. I don't know how everyone else tells, but let me know when it's spring!

There are crocuses in Idaho - but believe me, they could all be wiped out in the next couple days. It's hard to tell if it will stay spring or if it will snow, clear, snow, clear, snow, and then eventually clear again - hopefully by june.
In the southern exposed parts around peoples homes there are a couple of crocus. We are supposed to have a week of 50 degree weather, so in Maine Spring has sprung, but like Mal said, it could all be under 3 inches of snow tommorrow. Last Friday, we reached a boiling 58 degrees, and the UPS man was wearing shorts, some people were actually in tank tops. Yuck, most people around here I don't want to see in a tank top of any sort.
Oh gosh, no kidding about the tank topped people in Maine. It's been really nice here in Idaho too. Katie and I have laid out on the front lawn twice last week. It's been beautiful! Let's hope it lasts.
Here the crocus are gone and the daffodils are blooming. There are small beginnings of leaves on the trees, the grass is green and when you go into our back yard the rabbit tries to do his spring 'male' thing to your foot...gueez.
